The article reconstructs Alexander Pander’s theory of intentionality in the years from 1900 to 1911. Dealing with Pander’s publications of this period, we try to formulate and assess the different aspects of his theory. Since one of his main concerns in these publications is represented by the phenomenological description of willing (or volition), our focus is primarily placed on the specific intentionality of willing. In this regard, the aim of the paper is to show that the development of Pander’s positions regarding the experience of willing goes hand-in-hand with his general conception of intentionality. In the last part of the article, we take a brief look at the relationship between Pfänder and Husserl with regard to the problems at issue. |
